About The Position

This role is for a Solutions Architect within the World Wide Public Sector (WWPS) practice, focusing on the U.S. Army. The position involves helping the U.S. Army implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve technical problems using the latest cloud technologies. The architect will assist these groups in understanding application architectures and integration approaches, possessing the consultative skills to ensure project success. The role offers an opportunity to accelerate the growing U.S. Department of Defense business and develop skills within Amazon's innovative technical teams. The architect will own technical engagements and ensure the success of specific implementation projects, define implementation architectures, respond to RFPs, develop deep expertise in AWS technologies, and be a subject matter expert on security. The role involves providing technical design and sensitivity to customer needs in Defense markets, capturing and sharing best-practice knowledge within the AWS solution architect community, and collaborating with technical minds across enterprise architecture.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel within the US and Overseas 35%
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must currently possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance
  • 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
  • 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or CASP+ (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) or CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or Cloud+ or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
  • Experience in IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
  • Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective

Responsibilities

  • Owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects
  • Defining implementation architectures
  • Responding to RFPs
  • Developing a deep expertise in AWS technologies and broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform
  • Being a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services
  • Providing thoughtful technical design and offering sensitivity to customer needs in the Defense markets for cloud computing
  • Leading efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solution architect community
  • Listening to customer requirements, analyzing and determining potential solutions, and assisting Army customers to achieve their cloud goals
