Part-Time Solid Waste Operator
About The Position
The City of Kingman is seeking a Part-Time Solid Waste Operator to join their Public Works team. This role involves operating heavy-duty collection trucks, automated lifting devices, forklifts, and skid steers for the collection and transportation of residential and commercial solid waste and recycling materials. The operator will also perform inspections and basic maintenance on their assigned vehicle and provide customer service to residents. This position requires working outdoors year-round in various weather conditions. The role reports to the Solid Waste Superintendent and the Solid Waste Operations Manager and does not involve supervision of others.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Arizona Commercial Driver's License at a minimum level of Class B.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record.
- Any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.
- May be required to participate in and obtain NIMS (National Incident Management System) training certifications.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive and operate solid waste collection trucks and equipment to collect and transport refuse and recyclables across residential neighborhoods, alleys, and commercial areas.
- Conduct daily pre- and post-trip inspections, fuel, clean, and perform routine maintenance on vehicles; promptly report needed repairs.
- Provide professional, courteous service to residents and businesses, ensuring containers are fully emptied and areas are left clean.
- Assist other drivers and crews as needed, respond to spills or emergencies, and participate in special assignments to meet service demands.
