About The Position

Performs work responsible for performing technical duties in the operation of a solid waste collection vehicle for the City of Cape Girardeau.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency and three (3) years experience required.
• Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements and possess and maintain a valid Class “B” or better CDL with air brake endorsement.
• Before final appointment, successful applicant will be required to successfully complete a drug test, background investigation and pre-employment physical.

Nice To Haves

• One (1) year experience in Solid Waste and/or Recycling or related field operating Solid Waste and/or Recycling or similar vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates automated refuse/recycling truck on an assigned route.
• Maintains all vehicle records and reports.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment
• Responds to emergency call out situations as required.
• Assists in the operation and maintenance of the Transfer Station and Recycling Center when needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
