Northrop Grumman is seeking a Solid Rocket Motor Thermal Analyst Engineer – level 3/4 to work at its Elkton, Maryland facility. The Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems. This role involves conducting thermal analyses across all Northrop Grumman, Propulsion System and Controls product lines, including the development of thermal or computational fluid dynamic models, gridding, selection of boundary conditions and constraints, material properties, simulation code and methodology, and model validation. Common analyses include thermal analysis of rocket motor case insulation, nozzles, and thermal protection systems; CFD analysis of rocket nozzles, valve systems, case internal flow, and posttest assessment of hardware. The engineer will independently develop methodology and mathematical models, interpret analytical results, provide technical assessments of test hardware and data, prepare technical reports and presentations, provide technical mentorship, and take on technical and project leadership. The role also involves supporting propulsion and subsystem IPT leads and forming close working relationships with the customer technical community.
