About The Position

Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Soldering Technician - Life Support. This position is based at our Orchard Park, NY facility and is responsible for communicating and coordinating with the Production Supervisor regarding specific production needs (part availability, equipment, production status, and schedule updates) to ensure on-time delivery. Perform the required activities within the confines of the systems and procedures and the certified operator system. Assist Production Supervisor with work cell performance (OTD, MDR).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • 1 year of Eaton-MSD manufacturing/mechanical experience with minimum of 3 years of applicable experience.
  • Possesses significant knowledge/experience of assembly and test requirements. Ability to evaluate mechanical systems, use of specialized assembly tools/measuring equipment. Shares knowledge and guide technicians of all levels (including support staff).
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree or Equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in the applicable cell.
  • 2+ years of Aerospace Manufacturing including frontline leadership in manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete all required technical skills above.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, Cellular Manufacturing, One Piece Flow, and Continuous Improvement concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying, escalating and communicating improvement opportunities for Environmental, Health, and Safety.
  • Reporting safety events (incidents and near misses) to Supervisor and EHS and communicating/training lessons learned with their team.
  • Obtain and maintain Certified Trainer status.
  • Assist supervisor with management of training matrices. Observing and communicating technician cross-training progress.
  • Assist technicians in completing requirements of 90 day onboarding checklist.
  • Make recommendations for positions of need and high potential candidates.
  • Managing day to day work distribution and prioritization based on direction from Supervisor/Manager.
  • Identifying, escalating and communicating issues preventing attainment of cell objectives (SQDIPT).
  • Assist with maintainance of Tier 1 cell board. Communicate escalation need to supervisor.
  • Possesses knowledge/experience of assembly and test requirements. Ability to evaluate mechanical systems, use of specialized assembly tools/measuring equipment. Able to share knowledge and guide technicians of lower and current level.
  • Independently perform moderate and begins high complexity assembly and test operations following written instructions.
  • Ability to perform moderate complexity and begins high complexity product testing using test equipment while following written acceptance test documents.
  • Document test results on data sheets and/or record test data in electronic data collection system.
  • Ability to build basic test setups using documented plans/instructions, and product team support.
  • Support layered process audits(LPA)/Gembas.
  • Identify and communicate potential WI discrepancies/updates.
  • Understands product quality requirements and follows non-conforming material processes. Reports findings to team and generates non-conforming hardware documentation.
  • Supports Team/Engineering with inspection and rework.
  • Working experience with pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems, and able to troubleshoot moderate issues without supervision.
  • Identify and communicate troubleshooting instructions/process aid opportunities.
  • Advanced experience with ERP systems and standard Microsoft applications.
  • Assist support team with meeting OTD and problem solving activities.
  • Engage and enable team to attain cell goals and objectives (SQDIPT).
  • Support professional development of team members.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with multiple layers of the organization.
  • Participate in improvement opportunities, resulting in a decrease of lead time, cost savings, elimination of waste, or safety improvement.
