About The Position

We are looking for a Solder and Mechanical Assembly Technician to perform standard compliant solder and mechanical assembly of electronics and hardware in a small custom hardware development environment. Candidates should be able to install and solder components on PCBs, including surface-mount and through-hole components, following IPC standards, perform hand soldering, and paste reflow soldering. Mechanical experience includes performing electro-mechanical assembly and disassembly, create custom electronic harnesses, and familiarity with RF antenna mechanical and cable assembly. Candidate will perform inspections and quality assurance testing. The ideal candidate will be IPC certified, has strong analytical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong documentation skills.

Requirements

  • Candidates should be able to install and solder components on PCBs, including surface-mount and through-hole components, following IPC standards.
  • Excellent hand soldering skills.
  • Experience with paste reflow soldering.
  • Familiarity with BGA/microchip rework machine.
  • Setting up, operating, and monitoring automated equipment like Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines, pick-and-place (PNP) machines, and soldering systems.
  • Ability to perform PCB rework and repair.
  • Experience with performing electro-mechanical assembly and disassembly.
  • Review and assemble products according to assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Assemble components manually using hand tools and bench mounted tools.
  • Ability to create custom electronic harness assemblies.
  • Familiarity with RF antenna mechanical and cable assembly (coax, u.fl, N-type).
  • Perform receiving inspections of PCBs.
  • Perform quality checks, identify defects, and ensure adherence to product specifications.
  • Experience with X-ray electronic inspection imagery.
  • IPC CIS certifications (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610/620, and 7711/7721).
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in the applicable area of engineering/technical specialization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues with parts, assemblies, and equipment.
  • Experience using lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and continuity testers.
  • Strong documentation skills for all work that is performed including the ability to produce electronics assembly documentation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education.
  • Minimum five (5) years of related hardware engineering experience.
  • A candidate must be a US Citizen and requires an active/current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
