SolarCorps Construction Fellow
About The Position
The SolarCorps Fellowship Program is an 11-month paid service term opportunity for motivated individuals to gain experience in the renewable energy and non-profit sectors while contributing to communities disproportionately affected by environmental and economic injustice. GRID Alternatives, a national leader in making clean, affordable solar power accessible to low-income communities and communities of color, offers this fellowship as part of the AmeriCorps network. This full-time role involves direct engagement with the construction team in solar PV installation, contributing to all aspects of installation on low-income projects. Fellows gain valuable experience for future careers in solar installation, permitting, and design.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien of the United States.
- Must be 18 years or older
- 11-month commitment
- Clean, valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work outdoors, on rooftops, and in extreme temperatures.
- A passion for environmental justice and clean energy
- Willingness to learn skills on the job
- Be comfortable in working with diverse communities
- Excellent organizational and communication skills

Responsibilities
- Participate in solar PV installation, service calls, inspections, site visits and system commissioning
- Support in material procurement preparation for staging and load equipment before and after installation projects
- Assist staff with installation package preparation
- Help organize and maintain project information in Salesforce
- Assist staff with preliminary designs
Benefits
- Stipend pay of $40,800 over 11 months (Approx $21.40/hr) OR Hourly pay of $21.40 per hour
