About The Position

The Solar Technician assists in operating and maintaining the Chalk Bluff Solar Energy Center, a 450 MW-AC power generation facility in Heth, Arkansas. The site includes GE Flexinverter 1566 inverters, NEXTracker NX Horizon 4 trackers, Jinko Eagle modules, Shoals BLA and LBD modules, and a connected substation. The role performs routine mechanical and electrical maintenance, vegetation management, troubleshooting, and daily site inspections, maintenance, and repairs. The technician maintains site tooling, facilities, and equipment and helps ensure a clean and safe work environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (40 hours), with scheduled and unscheduled overtime, potential night work, and schedule variation during peak maintenance periods. Travel of up to 30% is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of technical experience, such as electrical experience, and/or technical education.
Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
Willingness to work nights during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
Ability to climb and work safely from a portable step ladder.
Ability to understand directions, follow procedures, and complete tasks with minimal oversight.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Eligibility to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

Experience with PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium-voltage systems, network communications, and monitoring.
Experience in industrial machine repair and maintenance, such as in manufacturing, automotive, food processing, automation, or facilities, in a maintenance technician, electrician, electronic technician, field engineer or technician, or service technician role.
Experience operating various SCADA systems.
Skill using testing equipment and tools such as thermographic electrical inspection, I-V curve tracing, Meggers, and ground-fault detection.
Strong analytical and diagnostic capabilities for troubleshooting and correcting problems.
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard practices.
Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams or schematics.
Proficiency with the MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on site solar, substation, and associated equipment.
Perform vegetation management, including operating large equipment as needed to maintain the site according to the vegetation management plan.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic problems, including inverter and tracker faults, network communications, ground faults, collection and substation issues, and general site performance issues.
Understand the electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic functions of site components and associated equipment.
Conduct daily site maintenance while wearing required safety equipment to inspect, maintain, and repair equipment.
Maintain company tooling, facilities, and equipment, and keep a clean, safe work environment.
