About The Position

This role involves a tiered approach with Solar Technician I and Solar Technician II positions. The Solar Technician I is responsible for basic solar operational and maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, mowing, tooling maintenance, inspections, preventative maintenance, snow plowing/shoveling, lockout/tagout procedures, component replacement, and equipment hauling. They will work under the direct guidance of higher-level technicians to assist with more complex duties. The Solar Technician II expands on these responsibilities by including AC system troubleshooting and maintenance, Battery Energy Storage System troubleshooting and maintenance, and all Lockout/Tagout implementation. Candidates not meeting all Solar Technician II qualifications may be considered for the Solar Technician I role. The company values inclusion, respect, and a positive work environment.

Requirements

High School /GED
DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State
Internal bidders will not be required to pass the CAST or MAT (Mechanical Aptitude Test) to be an eligible bidder
If bidding from a lower or equal classification – in addition to passing a prequalification test, individuals must have been in the Solar Technician I role for a minimum of one (1) year prior to being eligible to accept and report to the position (for Solar Tech II)
If bidding from a higher classification – passing a prequalification test will be required to obtain the Solar Technician II position prior to being eligible to accept and report to the position (for Solar Tech II)

Responsibilities

Maintains all tools, shops, vehicles, and work locations in a safe and efficient condition
Provides basic inspection of electrical and mechanical components of solar arrays
Tracker System Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Performs basic DC System Maintenance
Perform basic Lockout/Tagout activities
Performs basic PM work, corrective work, and component replacement on photovoltaic & inverter Systems
Snowplow as required to access components
Perform manual mowing of solar fields
Maintain solar farm maintenance records in specified work management system across multiple devices
Assist Solar Technician I and the Lead Solar Technician to perform other related duties as assigned that support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation, maintenance, and advancement of photovoltaic and Battery Energy Storage System assets.
Provides basic inspection of electrical, mechanical, and electronic troubleshooting for solar arrays and Battery Energy Storage Systems (for Solar Tech II)
AC/DC System Maintenance and Troubleshooting (for Solar Tech II)
PM work, corrective work, and component replacement on Battery Energy Storage & photovoltaic systems (for Solar Tech II)
Breaker Racking & Troubleshooting (for Solar Tech II)
Perform Lockout/Tagout implementation (for Solar Tech II)
