About The Position

The Solar Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing solar installation and electrical activities on site. This role ensures work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications, electrical codes, building codes, and quality standards. The Solar Site Superintendent provides day-to-day leadership to crews, subcontractors, and trades, while acting as a key link between field operations and project management. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on solar and electrical expertise, and the ability to proactively solve problems in a dynamic construction environment. This position will primarily support work in Witset, BC, with occasional travel to other project locations as required. The role reports to the Construction Manager, Project Manager, or Solar Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson Electrician certification required; Field Safety Representative (FSR) certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of solar electrical systems, electrical codes, building codes, and construction site safety standards.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, technical diagrams, electrical drawings, and code specifications.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, electrical testing devices, and solar monitoring devices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and a strong safety focus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other construction professionals, including plumbers, HVAC technicians, carpenters, project managers, and engineers.
  • Able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting materials, climbing ladders, balancing, walking on active construction sites, and working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Fall Protection Certification required or must be obtained prior to starting site work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with solar PV installations, inverters, battery systems, and related monitoring equipment considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct, and motivate site crews, subcontractors, and trades to achieve project goals and maintain safe, productive work practices.
  • Plan and schedule daily work activities in alignment with project timelines, milestones, and site priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with Site Superintendents, Project Managers, engineers, and other trades to coordinate task assignments and resolve site issues.
  • Coordinate deliveries, equipment, tools, and material handling to minimize downtime and support efficient workflow.
  • Pull permits as required and ensure work is completed in accordance with permit requirements, project specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Install, maintain, and repair solar and electrical systems, including panels, inverters, batteries, conduits, wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, switches, and related electrical components.
  • Connect power supplies, grounding systems, and electrical components in accordance with system designs and safety regulations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and solar issues using testing devices, and repair or replace faulty wiring, fixtures, equipment, and components as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance to support the safety, reliability, and functionality of solar and electrical systems.
  • Maintain daily site reports, time sheets, installation records, and documentation of work completed.
  • Communicate clearly with project leadership regarding progress, resource needs, safety concerns, delays, and recommended solutions.
  • Support training, mentoring, and task guidance for apprentices, junior electricians, and less experienced crew members.
  • Participate in continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and coordination across site activities.
