About The Position

Sunwave Energy LLC is seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Solar PTO & Utility Coordinator to join our Operations team. This position is responsible for managing the final stages of residential solar projects with utility companies, with a primary focus on obtaining Permission to Operate (PTO) and ensuring all required utility documentation, inspections, applications, and follow-ups are completed accurately and on time. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, and persistent in following up with utility companies to move projects toward completion.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in solar operations, PTO, utility interconnection, permitting, or project coordination is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of residential solar installation processes is preferred.
  • Experience working with Florida utility companies such as Duke Energy, FPL, OUC, JEA, TECO, or other municipal utilities is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of projects and follow-ups simultaneously.
  • Strong computer and data-entry skills.
  • Comfortable working with online utility portals, CRM systems, email, spreadsheets, and document-management platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problems, follow through, and take ownership of projects until completion.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the PTO (Permission to Operate) process for residential solar projects from submission through final approval.
  • Submit interconnection and PTO applications to utility companies.
  • Communicate and follow up directly with utility providers regarding pending applications, corrections, inspections, meter changes, approvals, and outstanding requirements.
  • Monitor the status of each project and ensure required documentation is submitted within established timelines.
  • Review project files for accuracy and completeness before utility submission.
  • Upload permits, inspection approvals, installation documentation, photographs, electrical documentation, and other required project information.
  • Identify rejected, incomplete, or delayed applications and work quickly to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, including Operations, Permitting, Installation, Engineering, and Customer Service.
  • Maintain accurate notes and status updates for every project in the company's systems.
  • Track pending PTO cases and provide regular reports regarding project status, delays, and required actions.
  • Maintain organized digital records for utility and PTO documentation.
  • Contact utility companies by phone and email when necessary to obtain updates and resolve project issues.
  • Assist with additional administrative and operational responsibilities related to solar project completion as needed.
