About The Position

Harvest Solar, a Michigan-based company focused on cost-effective renewable energy solutions for agriculture, commercial, and utility customers, is seeking a Solar Project Manager (SPM) for its Champaign, Illinois location. The SPM will oversee multiple commercial photovoltaic (PV) projects, ensuring adherence to schedule requirements, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, and providing leadership to the installation workforce. This role also involves supporting problem-solving, continuous improvement, and providing financial feedback to the Vice President of Operations, all under the direction of the Director of Project Management.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a valid and appropriate driver's license (CDL) to maintain employment.
  • Must have full range or mobility in upper and lower body; ability to work in various positions & environments, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time.
  • Professional appearance and excellent customer service.
  • Valid State Driver's License, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or directly related discipline required.
  • Two years of directly related experience may substitute for one year of university degree.
  • 3-5 years of Project Management experience, required.
  • MIOSHA 30 Certification, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain CDL certification, preferred
  • Experience dealing with utility scale projects of 5 Mega Watts or higher or behind the meter Commercial/Industrial projects, preferred.
  • AC and DC electrical installation experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in all areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction and customer satisfaction.
  • Enforce company rules and regulations, taking disciplinary action when necessary and coordinating with Human Resources.
  • Instruct and assist employees to install in a safe and productive manner while adhering to quality requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and job site.
  • Coordinate all sub-contractors, LV electrical, MV electrical, Surveyor, concrete, temporary labor, civil inspectors and Miss Dig.
  • Assist in scheduling the work force and installation projects.
  • Ensure that employees are properly trained to safely install quality solar arrays.
  • Ensure all necessary materials are on hand to install in a productive manner.
  • Document all accidents and file required reports.
  • Assist in hiring/staffing employees as required to meet the needs of the installation schedule.
  • Evaluate the new job packets for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Ensure that customer and internal quality standards are achieved on new jobs and maintain properly documented evidence.
  • Promote and maintain good customer and supplier relationships.
  • Work with Purchasing to order material/supplies in a timely manner and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Initiate continuous improvement methodology with installation team members.
  • Key contact person for any issues with customers or suppliers while on a jobsite.
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance requirements on company owned equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Voluntary Supplemental Programs: Accident, Critical illness, and Hospital Indemnity are available at the associate’s expense.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): 40 Hours are available each year on January 1.
  • Harvest Solar 401k Plan: Associates are auto enrolled at a 3% deferral rate.
