About The Position

The Solar O&M Technician (Level 4) is a senior technical leader responsible for ensuring the peak performance and safety of solar PV assets within the New Jersey region. This individual serves as a subject matter expert and the company's qualifying Master Electrician, providing high-level troubleshooting, oversight of complex maintenance, and mentorship to junior field staff. The Level 4 Technician balances hands-on technical excellence with regional administrative and safety authority. This role will be based out of New Jersey.

Requirements

  • Active Master Electrician License: Required to serve as the company's qualifying contractor’s license holder; must remain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in solar PV installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory and principles.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to work in 34,500VAC and 1500VDC conditions safely and independently.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a culture of operational excellence and event-free operations in all aspects of work.
  • Provide expert technical and analytical guidance to all field staff and other departments as required.
  • Perform/coordinate complex preventative and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting on solar PV systems, including modules, inverters, combiner boxes, and other electrical components.
  • Perform Commissioning and Audit services for solar electric systems.
  • Act as the Regional approval authority for PLOTO and switch plan LOTO.
  • Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences on site. Document time, material, and travel expenses in the CMMS for the completion of daily responsibilities.
  • Develop corrective action plans to troubleshoot and repair electrical faults, including grounding issues, wiring problems, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Supervise or review field work and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance and training on proper electrical maintenance, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable State AHJ, electrical code, safety regulations, and company standards.
  • Review, submit, and manage electrical permitting process for Maine to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Collaborate with the O&M Manager to optimize regional performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay up to date on the latest technologies and industry best practices in solar O&M.
  • Work directly with Regional Manager and third-party vendors to support project component installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Manage complex and/or unusual projects as a part of client services.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement initiatives, including training schedules, safety plans, SOPs, and O&M/Commissioning processes.
  • Communicate effectively with internal team and third-party vendors to coordinate and expedite repairs and warranty claims.
