About The Position

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Solar Array Electrical Engineer - Level 3/4 to join the Vehicle Engineering Directorate within Western Region Engineering. In this role, you will support test, design and procurement of solar array sub-assemblies from multiple suppliers. This position is located onsite in Redondo Beach, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM with 1 year of relevant experience (Level 3)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM with 6 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in STEM with 4 years of relevant experience (Level 4)
  • Must have active SCI access at the time of application or an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company, prior to the start date
  • Experience with procurement of aerospace hardware design and/or development of components
  • Experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting of components and equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Working and programming knowledge with LabView
  • Demonstrated multidisciplinary skills and ability to work with manufacturing and other engineering disciplines
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project

Responsibilities

  • Produce photovoltaic array electrical design related engineering drawings and specifications
  • Planning and execution of design, analysis, test and qualification and may include mechanical solar array structures
  • Provide status, problem resolution plans and provide input as an Integrated Process Team (IPT) member to a complete solar array mechanical/electrical design and production efforts
  • Support weekly subcontract telecoms, review in-process data, attend Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRRs) and Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), review test data and support pre-shipment readiness review meeting
  • Develop cost estimates and track efforts to these estimates
