About The Position

GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. has an opening for a Soils Laboratory Manager in their Somerset, New Jersey office. This role involves performing and overseeing soil-related engineering tests. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of project managers and/or principals, performing routine laboratory tests and overseeing staff executing laboratory tests.

Requirements

5+ years’ experience in a soils laboratory setting.
NETTCP Soils & Aggregate Lab Technician or NICET Certification, or ability to obtain relevant certification within 6 months of hire.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to manage multiple assignments, shifting priorities, and project schedules.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Positive team-oriented attitude and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
Experience with geotechnical laboratory software; experience with Geosystems is a plus.
Familiarity with USCS, USDA and Burmister Soil Classification System.
Associates degree (or higher) in Engineering, Geology, Soil Sciences, or Construction Management.

Responsibilities

Ensuring laboratory assignments are executed with technical proficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
Maintaining project schedules and delivery timeframes while ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
Perform material testing and interpret data for soil and aggregate samples.
Supervise and support laboratory staff performing routine and advanced testing procedures.
Assist with sample receipt, logging, inventory management and sample preparation.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with GZA’s health and safety policies and procedures.
Support GZA’s One Company philosophy by assisting with projects and tasks outside of primary responsibilities when needed.
