Soils Lab Technician

About The Position

This position processes and tests soil, asphalt, and concrete materials using company- and client-specific guidelines. The technician logs and prepares material samples, performs tests using appropriate ASTM methods, records test data, maintains laboratory equipment and a clean work area, and supports other departments as directed by the organizational supervisor. The role emphasizes quality, safety, and regular, on-time attendance. Work may take place indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent.
General maintenance skills.
Basic math skills.
Ability to learn and follow instructions.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to climb stairs regularly.
Ability to stand in one place for 1 to 2 hours at a time.
Ability to stoop and bend to perform equipment maintenance using tools.
Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment for hazardous materials.
Ability to wear steel-toe shoes as needed.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Log in material samples.
Prepare samples for processing, including weighing and drying them.
Perform tests using appropriate ASTM methods.
Manually enter test data onto the appropriate forms.
Maintain a clean working environment.
Perform general maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Assist the Drilling and Construction Material Testing Departments as required by the organizational supervisor.
Ensure quality at every step of the testing process.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure on-time and regular attendance.
Perform other duties as required.
