About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented DSS Software Tester/QA Analyst 3 to join a quality assurance team supporting software testing initiatives for the Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA). This role is responsible for designing, executing, and maintaining manual and automated test cases that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications. The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and committed to delivering high-quality software solutions through thorough testing and continuous process improvement. The DSS Software Tester/QA Analyst 3 will support software quality assurance efforts by developing and executing comprehensive manual and automated testing strategies. This role works closely with developers, QA leadership, and business stakeholders to identify software defects, validate application functionality, and ensure software releases meet established quality standards. The successful candidate will also maintain testing documentation, contribute to regression testing, and support ongoing test automation initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5 years of hands-on automation scripting experience.
  • 4 years of experience using JIRA.
  • 4 years of experience using Xray.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Must physically reside within the United States for the duration of the assignment.
  • Must be available for an in-person interview.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases based on functional and technical requirements.
  • Validate application functionality, performance, and reliability across multiple testing phases.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure existing functionality remains unaffected by new changes.
  • Support and enhance automated testing initiatives where appropriate.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution.
  • Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot issues and verify corrective actions.
  • Ensure defects are accurately documented and communicated throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, testing documentation, and coverage reports.
  • Ensure testing artifacts remain current and aligned with project requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, testing methodologies, and quality standards.
  • Partner with developers, QA leads, project teams, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Communicate testing progress, findings, and risks clearly to project stakeholders.
  • Participate in team meetings and support overall software delivery objectives.

Benefits
