About The Position

The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Software Test & Verification Engineer to support the Space Mission Systems (SMS) Rapid Space Capabilities (RSC) portfolio, focused on the Rocky program in Albuquerque, NM, El Segundo, CA or Kent, WA. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior Level Software Engineers. The selected candidate will focus on designing and developing software & hardware in the loop integration labs (SIL & HWIL) for the Rocky program. This position will design, develop, test, and integrate software that emulates the behavior and interfaces of hardware components and systems. The selected candidate will create a full, all-software test and integration environment that accelerates development, reduces risk, and ensures the Rocky program meets its schedule and milestones. These teams build the next generation products and services for the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business unit. These software engineers will work with commercial, government, and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space and ground. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements, design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing software test environments, including hardware, software, and network configuration to replicate production environments
  • Experience in hardware / software integration, emulation, and/or testing, preferably in a lab environment
  • Experience in foundational Computer Science knowledge and object-oriented design and software patterns
  • This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Level 4: 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
  • Experience with Software Engineering principles including, but not limited to Software Configuration Management, Software Architecture and Design, and Software Life Cycle Management
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Java, C++, Python, JS frameworks (REACT, jQuery UI, Open Layers, etc.), Spring Framework, Hibernate, RDBMS, MongoDB, REST, and OpenAPI
  • Experience using dependency management and automation services (e.g. Ivy, Maven, Gradle, Git, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Experience using cloud-based infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Familiarity with practices such as test-driven development (TDD), agile software development, DevSecOps, and CI/CD management
  • Familiarity with APIs (SOAP, REST), middleware, and data formats (XML, JSON)
  • Strong problem-solving, hardware/software troubleshooting, and HWIL testing skills
  • Experience with software/hardware emulation for one or more of the following: ground systems, control systems, embedded FPGA, low latency deterministic, operator interfaces, and/or control gimbals, ground antennas, optical sensors

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, tests, and integrates software models to emulate the behavior and functionality of hardware components or systems to provide an all-software test and integration environment
  • Partners with hardware engineers to identify and review requirements and specifications for the hardware being emulated
  • Develops, automates, tests, integrates, and administers emulation strategies and technologies
  • Develops verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results for emulation technologies
  • Identifies, debugs, and resolves issues to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products
  • Advises on software domains related to emulation technologies.
  • Creates and updates policies, practices and processes for emulation and virtualized resource management
  • Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to hardware emulation
