About The Position

As part of Software Test Engineering for the Autonomous Vehicle Integrity Platform (AVIP) Autonomous Interface Software QA team, you will be part of fast-paced, agile teams building software and innovative solutions in the ADAS and Autonomous domain. Software Test Engineering will perform ambiguity reviews of business and software requirements, execute tests, log defects, and report test metrics and test status to the project teams. This role requires a deep experience in software test strategy, creation of test process deliverables, test metric definition and industry standard report definition. Works closely with architects, business analysts, developers and project managers to assist teams through task management for the successful and on time delivery of projects with highest quality as possible. May lead projects. Interacts with managers, leads and peers to share information and clarify instructions. Builds test plans using standard templates defined by the organization. Works with more experienced test leads to assist in test strategy and process improvements. Builds manual test cases and automated test scripts. Logs, tracks and verifies resolutions of requirements and software defects. Review test plans written by others and provide feedback/assistance. Ability to manage work across multiple projects and ability to lead all testing activities on a project. Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and builds a winning culture. Performs other related duties as assigned. Evaluates and produces test and project metrics. Speaks to what is blocking testing. Speaks to where there are the most issues. Creates Test Execution plans. Categorizes and manages test suites. Innovates the testing process using tools, techniques, process tweaks. Analyzes and reviews business and system requirements. Derives and produces test estimates. Executes manual and automated tests. Tracks progress to plan. Logs defects. Conducts defect triage. Becomes an SME of the system and business process domain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields
  • 3+ years of embedded software test experience
  • Solid knowledge of software testing methodologies and tools, including: Strong understanding of unit, integration, regression, system, performance, and security testing, with the ability to choose the right method based on risk and product stage.
  • Experience applying shift-left testing practices, using testing early in the lifecycle to catch defects sooner and reduce downstream rework.
  • Proficiency with test automation and regression pipelines, including smoke/sanity/regression coverage and maintaining automated suites as the product evolves.
  • Working knowledge of embedded and automotive validation methods such as HIL, SIL, bench testing, and vehicle testing.
  • Familiarity with common validation and troubleshooting tools such as Vehicle Spy, INCA, Lauterbach, NeoVi, MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE, Postman, Selenium, JMeter, and OWASP ZAP.
  • Experience designing test plans, test cases, peer reviews, acceptance criteria, and coverage improvement strategies that improve quality and traceability.
  • Understanding of data-driven and scenario-driven validation, including pass/fail analysis from recorded measurements and predefined co-simulation tests.
  • Ability to investigate issues based on limited information
  • Creative, disciplined, with a strong sense of responsibility
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with automation and test tools such as Python, Robot Framework, Jenkins, Jira, GitHub, Gerrit, and simulation environments such as Matlab/Simulink is preferred.
  • Sensor and perception stack knowledge — experience with radar, camera, lidar, ultrasonic, sensor fusion, calibration behavior, timing/filtering issues, and high-throughput sensor data streaming.
  • Simulation and evaluation ecosystems — using scenario libraries, continuous evaluation pipelines, automated workflows, and metrics-driven analysis to assess autonomy performance at scale.
  • Diagnostics and system integrity — understanding watchdogs, program flow monitoring, diagnostic techniques, health status handling, fault insertion, and degradation/fallback strategies.
  • Software release and traceability — knowledge of CI/CD for autonomy software, release gating, issue triage, KPI tracking, configuration/change control, and linking requirements to validation evidence.
  • Technical knowledge of ADAS and autonomous system software
  • ADAS feature understanding — hands-on knowledge of features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Super Cruise, Lane Keep Assist, AEB, Forward Collision Alert, and Driver Monitoring, including expected behavior, edge cases, and failure handling.
  • Autonomy software architecture — understanding how the AV/ADAS stack is decomposed across sensing, perception, routing/navigation, fallback management, system integrity, system state/moding, and driver/autonomy transitions.
  • Embedded and real-time software — familiarity with firmware, HAL, RTOS, device drivers, APIs, deterministic behavior, and production-grade real-time software constraints common in automotive compute platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts (unit, bench, and in-vehicle as needed) as well as review ones by others for functional, performance and reliability requirements, in both development and production environments
  • Investigate issues and drive continuous improvement of processes, products, methodologies, and innovation
  • Collaborate with HW/FW/SW teams to participate in design reviews, define functional test coverage, pass/fail criteria, feature and API requirements
  • Create test cases that can be executed manually when necessary, while being designed and optimized for automation; write accompanying automation scripts using industry-standard tools and coding methodologies, troubleshooting script and test environment issues, triage and log defects, track and report progress to plan
  • Support validation of interface behavior across integrated vehicle systems, ensuring quality and consistency of software interactions and user-facing functionality.
  • Being the voice of quality within the organization for assigned working domain.
  • Partner with upstream suppliers and downstream vehicle testing teams to architect test stations and scale coverage.
  • Implemented a shift-left testing strategy to elevate software quality and minimize escaped defects.

Benefits
