About The Position

Leidos is seeking a talented Software Test Engineer to work in their Huntsville office. This position focuses on automated testing, development of robust, innovative software test infrastructures and frameworks, integration testing, informal manual testing, formal software qualification testing, fielding and support, and maintenance of software products. Software products range from analysis tools/simulations, mission planning software, and components of mission-critical systems. The role involves direct participation as an integral team member performing key roles with respect to test planning, test strategy and design, test execution, software engineering processes, and recommendations on product quality. It also involves reviewing, editing, and generating various documents used for engineering and testing purposes per industry standards, learning from more senior test engineers, and frequent communication with software developers and other team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • 2+ years of relevant technical experience with BS degree.
  • U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Testing and/or troubleshooting embedded software or embedded-adjacent applications that interface with, operate, monitor, support, simulate, control, or communicate with embedded systems.
  • Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville-North Alabama area.
  • Experience performing software test on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Experience implementing software test automation.
  • Ability in software development in either C#/.NET, C, C++, Java, Python, or Ruby programming languages.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience writing user interface (UI) tests with automated UI testing technologies.
  • Experience with applicable industry standards (IEEE 12207, CMMI, DO-178C and/or DO-278, MIL-STD-882e, RMF).
  • Ability to work across multiple products under development by multiple small teams.
  • Knowledge of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles and application.
  • Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices technology.
  • Experience testing guidance & control algorithms.
  • Experience testing navigation systems.
  • Experience testing mission planning systems (NOMS, JMPS).
  • Experience testing sensors used in guidance, navigation, or mission planning systems.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.
  • Understanding of hardware-software integration and software systems engineering principles.
  • Great communication skills with ability to present to senior leadership and government customers.
