About The Position

Space Ground System Solutions (SGSS), a Parsons company, is hiring a full-time Software Test Engineer to work onsite at its customer site in Welcome, Maryland. The role performs software- and system-level testing using Neptune software at the Blossom Point Tracking Facility. The position involves working with complex systems in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment.

The engineer will analyze requirements and documentation, verify and track features, develop and execute automated tests, and create and maintain test plans, cases, and procedures. The role also includes troubleshooting issues with developers and testers, supporting software releases and system deployments, tracking patches and release versions, and providing on-call support for operational systems. The engineer will contribute to software and operational documentation and collaborate with system engineers, the government security team, and leadership to support software design, compliance, and schedule adherence.

SGSS describes itself as a wholly owned subsidiary of Parsons Corporation focused on developing solutions for the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community. Applicants selected will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Requirements

• Must be a US citizen.
• Must meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining a DoD Secret clearance.
• At least three years of experience working as a test engineer.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot potential software defects.
• Ability to communicate effectively with developers to investigate and resolve test anomalies.
• Experience designing, developing, and executing test cases.
• Experience with cloud computing concepts.
• Experience with Linux-based operating systems and the command-line interface.
• Experience with test automation tools.
• Experience writing and executing test scripts, such as Python.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with performance and stress testing concepts and familiarity with performance measurement tools, such as Prometheus.
• Familiarity with satellite systems, satellite operations, and/or aerospace engineering concepts.
• Familiarity with continuous integration techniques and technologies.
• Familiarity with Agile development concepts.
• Familiarity with satellite ground hardware, including FEPs, antenna controllers, and crypto.
• Experience with Atlassian software development and collaboration tools, such as JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
• Experience with object-oriented development concepts.
• Experience interacting with relational databases, such as INFLUXDB.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and documentation, and confer with internal stakeholders.
• Verify and track new features.
• Create and execute automated test scripts to support smoke and regression testing.
• Create, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test procedures for feature and regression testing.
• Troubleshoot software system issues and work with developers and testers to resolve test anomalies.
• Work effectively across disciplines, including systems engineering, software development, and operations support.
• Support the creation of software releases and system deployments.
• Track software patches and release versions.
• Provide on-call support for operational systems.
• Assist in preparing, directing, and reviewing documentation, including Software Development Plans (SDPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and configuration management reports.
• Work with system engineers, the government security team, and leadership to support software design, compliance, and schedule adherence.
