About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is hiring an experienced Software Test Engineer for a full-time, 100% U.S.-based remote position supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is not an SQA-only tester role; candidates must have strong programming skills, such as in C#, .NET, Java, or Python. The role requires a Public Trust (MBI) clearance or eligibility to obtain one, and U.S. citizenship. The Software Test Engineer develops and executes test plans, schedules, cases, scripts, and procedures to verify that information systems, products, and services meet organizational standards and end-user requirements. The engineer performs and leads software and IT system testing, verifies work products, documents results, supports issue analysis and resolution, produces daily metrics, and communicates progress to management. The position also contributes technical solutions to complex problems, improves procedures, may mentor junior testers, and may occasionally support other IT systems engineering activities, including requirements, design, installation, operation, sustainment, and support. The successful candidate has at least 10 years of total professional experience and at least 10 years in software testing and quality assurance, along with a bachelor's degree in a related field. Applications are expected to demonstrate qualifications consistently with the candidate's resume. Interviews are conducted on Microsoft Teams with the camera on, and candidates will be asked to provide a LinkedIn profile link.
