Software Test Engineer

SAIC•Colorado Springs, CO
•Onsite

About The Position

SAIC seeks a motivated, detail-oriented Software Test Engineer to support the GMASS Test & Evaluation team and the US Space Force’s missile warning, defense, and space missions. The role involves planning, developing, and executing tests for Ground-Based Radar software, including delivery of system and network assessments used for verification, validation, and integration into the operational baseline. The position is described as located on-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado, while the posting also lists potential for hybrid remote work. The engineer will provide code test coverage for software changes to the PARCS ground-based radar baseline and create and document unit tests that become version-unique tests (VUTs) for software release testing. The role also supports developers with lab testing and application-software debugging in a classified lab at Peterson Space Force Base, and supports integration, test, development, and execution of complex systems. The engineer analyzes testing needs with subject matter experts, develops solutions to complex testing problems, and coordinates with engineers who sustain operational and test systems.

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Experience testing backend host software and frontend graphical user interfaces.
  • Experience with Unix and Windows systems.
  • Basic understanding of thread mechanics, including blocking versus non-blocking operations and synchronous versus asynchronous tasks.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide code test coverage for software under development that modifies the PARCS ground-based radar software baseline.
  • Design, develop, and document unit tests that will be converted into version-unique tests (VUTs) for PARCS software release testing.
  • Assist developers with lab testing and debugging application software in a classified lab at Peterson Space Force Base.
  • Support system integration, testing, development, and execution of complex systems.
  • Conduct analysis and collaborate with subject matter experts on planning, design, development, and use of electronic data processing systems for PARCS software testing.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex testing problems using ingenuity and creativity.
  • Participate in system troubleshooting to resolve complex issues.
  • Interact and coordinate with engineers responsible for sustaining operational and test systems.
