About The Position

A patriot is seeking a Software Test Engineer to support the U.S. Space Force’s Critical Satellite Communications mission in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In this role, the Software Test Engineer helps ensure the reliability, performance, and readiness of mission-critical software systems that support MILSATCOM operations around the globe. This role supports testing and validation activities for the Command and Control System - Consolidated integrated environment. The Software Test Engineer helps ensure the successful deployment and operation of Commercial Off-the-Shelf applications, custom-developed software, and satellite-specific data products supporting U.S. Space Force missions. Applications are hosted on Windows, Solaris, and Linux platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 2–4 years of relevant experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both engineering teams and customers.
  • Current Security+ certification, DoD 8570 IAT Level II, or higher.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting MILSATCOM operations, satellite command and control systems, or a related developmental or operational environment preferred.
  • 4+ years of software or system testing experience.
  • Experience supporting MILSATCOM and/or satellite command and control systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience working in classified or mission-critical operational environments.
  • Knowledge of automated testing tools and test management processes.
  • Ability to articulate technical concepts orally and in written form both internally to the team and externally to the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, prepare, and execute formal software acceptance tests.
  • Validate software maintenance releases and system enhancements.
  • Maintain and execute regression test suites to ensure system stability.
  • Support user acceptance testing and assist with troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with software developers during unit, integration, and system testing activities.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and support resolution efforts.
  • Provide daily status reporting during formal test events.
  • Verify software performance across Windows, Linux, and Solaris environments.
  • Apply software configuration management best practices to ensure consistency and integrity across multiple systems.
