About The Position

Summit TRC is seeking to add a Software Test Engineer to our team. This role will be focused on hands-on testing of software, cyber updates, and integrated hardware within a lab environment supporting a larger software ecosystem. The right candidate will have a strong foundation in building and executing test cases, troubleshooting defects, and working closely with development and operations teams to ensure systems perform as expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline
  • Active security clearance
  • Security+ certification (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire).
  • Strong experience configuring and supporting Windows 11 operating systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with IP-based and serial communications, including configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco networking equipment.
  • Experience analyzing network traffic and troubleshooting connectivity issues using packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently while contributing effectively within a team in fast-paced, dynamic environments with shifting priorities.
  • Experience developing and executing both formal and informal test procedures to validate system functionality.
  • Hands-on experience performing functional testing of computer hardware, including network interface cards (NICs), switches, and related components.
  • Ability to document, track, and clearly communicate software defects through well-written and actionable reports.
  • Proven ability to perform in high-tempo environments with aggressive timelines and evolving requirements.
  • Must be a US Citizen with a Secret or higher security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and execute functional test cases to validate software fixes, enhancements, and design deficiency corrections.
  • Create and execute test procedures to verify cybersecurity updates and patch implementations within the software environment.
  • Develop and perform test cases to validate hardware components operating in conjunction with software products.
  • Document test results and generate problem reports for any software discrepancies or non-compliance with defined requirements identified during formal and informal testing.
  • Collaborate directly with Software Development, Functional Test, Operations, and Program Management teams to communicate, track, and resolve software issues identified in both lab and fielded environments.
  • Coordinate communications and security teams on cybersecurity, hardware integration, and lab-based testing activities.
  • Support and actively participate in Formal Qualification Testing, performing functional validation and assisting with software verification efforts in coordination with Quality Control personnel.
  • Engage in Agile team activities, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily/weekly stand-ups, to support continuous integration and delivery of tested capabilities.
