About The Position

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer to join an agile team responsible for building and validating FactoryTalk Optix, a modern industrial visualization and HMI platform. This platform is utilized by customers to design, deploy, and maintain applications within manufacturing environments. The Senior Software Test Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of FactoryTalk Optix by developing and executing both manual and automated tests for new and existing product functionalities. This position involves close collaboration with product owners, developers, and fellow test engineers to understand requirements, validate features, identify and document defects, and support regression and release testing. The role emphasizes developing robust test engineering practices, gaining expertise in the product and the industrial automation domain, and contributing to an exceptional customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in software testing, software development, test automation, or a related technical role.
  • Experience creating, executing, and documenting manual or automated test cases.
  • Experience developing or maintaining automated tests using Python, C#, or similar programming or scripting languages.
  • Experience with Squish and Selenium test frameworks
  • Experience creating or updating GitHub Actions
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • Experience with C# scripting
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, or QTest.
  • Exposure to performance, reliability, longevity, or regression testing.
  • Experience with industrial automation, HMI software, PLCs, and protocols such as CIP or OP-CUA

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and execute manual and automated tests for FactoryTalk Optix features.
  • Validate design-time and runtime workflows to help ensure a reliable customer experience.
  • Lead test planning, estimation, execution, and defect triage as part of an Agile team.
  • Reproduce, document, and track defects with clear titles, descriptions, steps, and supporting details.
  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and other test engineers to understand requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Support regression, release, and exploratory testing activities.
  • Contribute to test documentation, quality procedures, and continuous improvement of test practices.
  • Use tools such as JIRA, QTest, Confluence, GitHub, and Jenkins to support testing and quality tracking.
  • Learn FT Optix product functionality and relevant industrial automation concepts over time.
  • Collaborate effectively with geographically distributed teams.
