About The Position

Join the Test Solutions Engineering team within the Hardware Discipline Center at Raytheon, where we architect and build sophisticated software applications and automated test environments for mission-critical defense systems. In this role, you will develop cutting-edge software solutions that interface directly with state-of-the-art engineering hardware, supporting products across the entire lifecycle—from early lab demonstrations and design verification to high-rate production testing and long-term sustainment. Working alongside a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering team, you will design robust tools that ensure our nation's defense technologies perform flawlessly.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. Degree must be obtained by start date.
  • Experience developing, testing, or integrating software applications using one or more programming languages, such as C, C++, C#, Python, or Visual Basic (VB/VBA/.NET).
  • Experience developing, building, and debugging software applications targeting Windows operating systems using the Microsoft Visual Studio integrated development environment (IDE).
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated foundation in software development principles and Object-Oriented Design (OOD/OOP), including encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and modular class structure.
  • Experience or coursework utilizing C# or modern C++ in an engineering or laboratory test setting.
  • Familiarity with hardware/software interfacing, test automation frameworks, or instrumentation control (e.g., via GPIB, Ethernet, or serial interfaces).
  • Hands-on exposure to version control tools (such as Git) and Agile software development practices.
  • Strong diagnostic and analytical problem-solving skills applied to complex software/hardware integration issues.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, and integrate object-oriented software applications and test software targeting Windows operating platforms.
  • Develop and derive system-level software requirements, operational specifications, and architectural designs.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize software applications to ensure rigorous test accuracy, repeatability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with systems, electrical, and mechanical engineers to integrate software test tools with specialized hardware instrumentation.
  • Participate actively in formal design reviews, code peer reviews, and technical defect resolution.
  • Work within structured engineering frameworks applying both Agile and Waterfall development lifecycles.
