About The Position

The State of Michigan is seeking an experienced Software Test Analyst 5 to support software testing and quality assurance activities across technology initiatives and application enhancements. This is a hybrid role — NOT remote. Candidates must be able to work onsite in Lansing 2 days per week (Monday & Tuesday) beginning Day 1.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree — any major, must be completed
• 7+ years of IT Quality Assurance, Software Testing, or Systems Analyst experience
• 5+ years developing and executing test cases
• 5+ years identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects
• 5+ years using Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, or similar defect/testing management platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and scenarios
• Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and UAT testing
• Review requirements and identify gaps and quality risks
• Document and track defects through resolution
• Work closely with developers, BAs, IT teams, and business stakeholders
• Build repeatable automated test banks and regression test banks
• Perform data validation and reconciliation, including SQL queries
• Test APIs, integrations, interfaces, and application workflows
• Support deployments and production validation
• Maintain testing documentation, metrics, and results
• Provide status updates on testing progress, defects, risks, and issues
