About The Position

Enlighten is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Software Security Engineer to spearhead a team developing advanced software capabilities for computer-based systems. The role focuses on cloud-based software and data solutions, including architecting, modeling, prototyping, and implementing solutions using AWS-compatible technologies. The engineer will analyze complex systems and requirements, help design and improve cloud infrastructure processes, and establish standards for monitoring and enhancing capacity and performance. The position works with development, infrastructure, architecture, and governance teams, and serves as the main technical point of contact for supported projects, including customer interactions. It is a hybrid role with occasional customer-site work and possible domestic travel, averaging one to two days per week. The position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Requirements

Must currently hold and maintain an active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
At least 15 years of Systems/Software Engineering experience with a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; or 13 years of relevant experience with a master's degree in a related field; or a high school diploma or equivalent and 19 years of relevant experience.
Architect-level experience with AWS Cloud, focused on data solutions.
Demonstrated ability to document solutions, present them to internal and external customers, and help implement them.
Proficiency in navigating and contributing to the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
Proficiency in system design and meticulous documentation.
Experience with streaming and/or batch analytics, such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, Storm, MapReduce, or Hadoop.
Experience with distributed databases, NoSQL databases, and full-text search engines, such as Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or Solr.
Experience designing enterprise APIs and RESTful web services.
Experience with microservices architecture and object-oriented programming paradigms.
Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS or Azure.
Experience with modern Java frameworks and libraries, such as Spring or Guava.
Experience with the Linux operating system.
Experience with configuration management tools such as Git, Nexus, or Maven.
Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
Ability to work a hybrid schedule, provide some customer-site support, and undertake possible CONUS-only travel, averaging one to two days per week.
Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes as needed.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.

Nice To Haves

DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certifications may be required as directed by the customer.
Previous experience with BDP (Big Data Platform) is a plus.
Scripting experience is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

Work with development, infrastructure, architecture, and governance teams to architect solutions for projects.
Design, model, and prototype current and future states of data using AWS-compatible solutions.
Help the infrastructure team develop processes for managing the cloud environment.
Analyze existing and proposed system needs and requirements, and develop technical, structural, and organizational specifications.
Create standards and/or models to monitor and enhance capacity and performance.
Troubleshoot systems and work under pressure while managing multiple deadlines.
Interface with customers and serve as the main technical point of contact for supported projects.
Help model and code database solutions.
Document and present solutions to internal and external customers and assist with implementation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
