About The Position

Collins Aerospace/RTX is hiring an entry-level Software Security Engineer 1 to help develop innovative products for customer missions. The role contributes to the design, development, integration, and verification of embedded software solutions, including implementing and testing software. The engineer will use software tools and languages such as Rust, C++, and Python and may work across complex problem domains involving cryptography, waveform and networking protocols, embedded devices, DevSecOps, command and control, and project engineering. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with an agile team and experts in hardware, systems, and FPGA engineering, while gaining experience across the full software development lifecycle. It is based primarily onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. An active, transferable U.S. government Secret security clearance is required before the start date, and U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field by the start date.
Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance prior to the start date; an active and existing clearance is required on day one.
U.S. citizenship, as required for eligibility for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Comfort working with C, C++, Rust, Python, and/or Linux.
Some experience coding in an embedded environment.
A security-focused mindset.
Familiarity with multithreaded and object-oriented development.
