Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Software Reliability Systems Engineering Manager 2. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel Program. The candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Reliability and Maintainability engineers within a matrixed functional organization, ensuring integration and collaboration across design and manufacturing teams under an overarching Systems Engineering framework. They will develop, coordinate, and conduct technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (DOE) constructs. The role involves recommending design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product software reliability. Compiling and analyzing performance reports and process control statistics, investigating and analyzing relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes, and ensuring that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards are key duties. The candidate will also analyze preliminary plans and develop reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer, and governmental agency reliability objectives. Mathematical models may be developed to identify units, batches, or processes posing excessive failure risks, and proposed changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability may be made. Determining units and/or batches requiring environmental testing and specifying the minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data may also be required. As a section manager, the candidate will manage a team of individual contributors who may support one or more programs within SDS. Specific duties include direct supervision/management of the Software Reliability & Condition Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) staff, providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates, performance feedback, salary reviews, training, mentoring, and coaching. The role involves planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of work packages. Developing and documenting Software Specifications and Verification Methodology and ensuring all reliability requirements are met are also crucial. The candidate will work with the Senior RAM-C/CBM+ Manager and leads in establishing goals and performing evaluations, coach, support, train, and motivate team members, collaborate with peers and direct management in resource planning and hiring, and assess staffing needs. Conditioned Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) efforts to optimize scheduled maintenance and reduce Lifecycle Cost (LCC) are a significant part of the role, including developing CBM+ architecture and tool development, and embedding prognostic and diagnostic capabilities/technologies for the Weapon System. The ideal candidate is capable of creating and managing high performing teams while providing technical, administrative, and management expertise. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is essential. This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities, with the Functional management role comprising up to 20% of the candidate's time.
