About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Software Quality Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join their Software Quality Engineering team. This role involves ensuring that required processes are used for developing, controlling, and verifying software products, whether developed internally or by suppliers. The position supports programs within the BDS Derivatives division and requires a broad background in software development practices, tools, and processes, with a focus on advocating First Time Quality strategies. Experience with quality standards like AS9100/AS9115 is highly preferred. The ideal candidate is a team player, self-motivated, a quick learner, and possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with resilience and the ability to provide and receive constructive feedback. The role also requires demonstrating and assertively communicating boundaries while fostering a collaborative team environment. This position is expected to be 100% onsite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or other technical degree.
  • Ability to acquire a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (Post-Start).
  • 1+ years of experience with Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test).

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years' experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Experience with products developed using Agile software development practices.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and associated tools.
  • Software quality engineering experience supporting software with AS9115 and DO-178 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Defines and maintains program-level software quality engineering processes, resources, and infrastructure.
  • Actively participates in program activities, from initial proposal and planning to verification/certification and delivery.
  • Performs process and product audits to verify software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes, plans, and standards.
  • Supports program milestone and formal review meetings, occasionally preparing and presenting information.
  • Participates in configuration management activities.
  • Plans software quality test activities and completion of test readiness activities.
  • Ensures integrity of the test process and verifies test results.
  • Works with regulatory agencies and other functions to develop criteria and procedures for software delivery activities.
  • Performs final reconciliation of software data products.
  • Identifies process or product non-compliances; supports root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and other defect investigation/prevention activities.
  • Teams with equipment managers of supplier products to monitor and evaluate supplier software development performance.
  • Acts as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer, highlighting potential best practices on the team, as well as areas for improvement.
  • Supports the identification and analysis of program/project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risk.
