Our Software Quality Assurance team plays a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and user experience of our connected fitness solutions. We’re looking for an experienced and driven Software Quality Engineer II to take ownership of quality assurance processes, lead testing efforts across our cardio fitness products, and serve as a key technical resource for the team. In this role, you’ll bring a proactive, detail-oriented approach to preventing defects and continuously improving product quality. This position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment while contributing to QA strategy and best practices. This is a hybrid position based at the Nieto-Jones Innovation Center in Schaumburg, IL (remote M/F; in-office T/W/Th).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 5+ years of hands-on software testing experience, with a track record of increasing responsibility
  • Advanced understanding of software testing methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing
  • Demonstrated ability to design test strategies independently, from requirements through release
  • Expertise with bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail)
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash) for test automation or tooling
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to isolate and communicate complex technical issues clearly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to document findings and present technical risks to non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead end-to-end testing efforts for software features and bug fixes
  • Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test cases based on functional specifications, design documents, and JIRA tickets
  • Drive exploratory testing strategies to proactively identify bugs, edge cases, and usability issues with our software
  • Verify hardware/software integration between our application platform and connected cardio equipment
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for complex defects, analyze root causes and provide detailed, actionable reproduction steps
  • Define and enforce defect triage processes; track, prioritize, and verify bug fixes through resolution
  • Identify opportunities to improve test coverage and QA processes, and implement those improvements
  • Lead and participate in sprint planning, QA test case reviews, representing quality as a first-class concern
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with developers, product managers, and hardware engineers to clarify requirements and resolve quality issues early
