About The Position

Simformotion™ LLC, the licensee for Cat® Simulators for Caterpillar Inc., is seeking a Software Quality Automation Engineer to help strengthen the quality, reliability, and efficiency of our simulator and software products. This role is ideal for someone with strong testing fundamentals, automation experience, and an interest in using AI-assisted tools to improve how testing is designed, executed, maintained, and analyzed. Requirements

3+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Test Automation, or a related role.
Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, and QA best practices.
Experience developing, maintaining, or contributing to automated testing solutions, frameworks, or automation tooling.
Demonstrated ability to identify manual processes and translate them into scalable automation solutions.
Understanding of automation frameworks, automation architecture, and test lifecycle management.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with defect tracking and test management systems.
Experience working within Agile software development teams.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management and documentation platforms.
Experience with PractiTest or similar test management platforms.
Experience with Git or other source control systems.
Experience with C#, .NET, or other object-oriented programming languages used to develop automation tools, frameworks, or test solutions.
Experience testing desktop or enterprise software applications.
Experience troubleshooting complex software systems involving multiple applications, services, or hardware components.
Experience with Unity-based applications, simulations, gaming, or interactive software.
Experience testing software that interfaces with physical hardware, sensors, controls, or external devices.
Experience using AI tools to accelerate testing, automation development, documentation, and quality analysis.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.
Expand and improve test coverage withinPractiTest.
Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing across simulator and software products.
Design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions, internal automation tools, and scalable testing frameworks that reduce repetitive manual validation and improve efficiency, consistency, and release velocity.
Help establish automation strategies, standards, and best practices across products.
Leverage AI-assisted tools and workflows to accelerate test design, automation implementation, test maintenance, defect analysis, documentation, and continuous improvement of the QA process.
Validate desktop applications, simulator software, and hardware integrations.
Identify, document, and track defects using Jira.
Create and maintain QA documentation, testing procedures, and knowledge-sharing resources within Confluence.
Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Collaborate closely with developers, testers, designers, and the Product Manager throughout the development lifecycle.
Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve quality, expand automation coverage, eliminate manual validation effort, increase release confidence and team velocity.
