About The Position

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Specialist/Applications Tester to join a new team based out of Herndon, VA! This role involves assisting the Sponsor in the evaluation of software and associated documentation, collaborating with customers to diagnose problems and recommend solutions, and conducting various types of software testing. The specialist will also be responsible for creating and maintaining defect databases, developing testing programs, and designing automated testing tools. Key activities include designing test plans, documenting procedures, estimating costs, defining quality metrics, and identifying program deviations. The role also entails performing initial debugging, planning test schedules, providing feedback to developers, and supporting software installation. Additionally, the specialist will review documentation for accuracy and compliance, test system modifications, update automated scripts, and utilize beta testing sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • An active security clearance with a polygraph.
  • 6 to 10 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Sponsor in the evaluation of software and associated documentation
  • Collaborate with customers to evaluate or diagnose problems; recommend possible solutions
  • Conduct historical analyses of test results
  • Conduct software compatibility tests with programs, hardware, operating systems, or network environments
  • Coordinate user or third party testing
  • Create or maintain databases of known test defects
  • Develop testing programs that address areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability
  • Design or develop automated testing tools
  • Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures
  • Document test procedures to ensure replicability and compliance with standards
  • Estimate software development costs and schedule
  • Develop and define characteristics of quality including quality metrics and scoring parameters; determine requisite quality control resources
  • Develop or specify standards, methods, or procedures to determine product quality or release readiness
  • Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to software developers
  • Evaluate or recommend software for testing or bug tracking
  • Identify program deviance from standards; suggest modifications to ensure compliance
  • Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function, output, online screen, or content
  • Install and configure recreations of software production environments to allow testing of software performance
  • Install, maintain, or use software testing programs
  • Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes
  • Monitor program performance to ensure efficient and problem-free operations
  • Participate in formal and informal reviews to determine quality
  • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems
  • Perform initial debugging procedures by reviewing configuration files, logs, or code pieces to determine breakdown source
  • Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality
  • Provide technical support during software installation or configuration
  • Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, or completeness, or to mitigate risks
  • Test system modifications to prepare for implementation
  • Update automated test scripts to ensure currency
  • Utilize beta testing sites to evaluate software performance
