About The Position

Knorr Brake Company is seeking a Software QA Engineer 3 to provide assurance that the software portion of a project fulfills commitments for the software product. This includes ensuring compliance with customer and end-user technical specifications, contract documents, project-specific software plans, and Knorr's internal process requirements. The role also involves supporting the format and correctness of software design documents for customer submittal, meeting IEEE or EN document content requirements, and ensuring proper formatting for readability and consistency with Knorr's templates. The engineer will be involved in full lifecycle software development, writing well-designed, testable, efficient code, producing specifications, determining operational feasibility, and supporting testing. Collaboration with customers and other engineering groups is essential to complete work on time and meet requirements. The position also requires maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy environment, complying with company rules, quality, product safety, HSE regulations, and applicable standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, AAR, and CMMI. Additionally, the role involves reviewing customer specifications, supporting proposal development, preparing and maintaining documentation, overseeing software verification and validation tasks, integrating software components, developing verification plans and QA procedures, documenting software functionality, troubleshooting, debugging, upgrading systems, deploying programs, evaluating user feedback, and ensuring software updates.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with embedded control system environments typical in Knorr hardware systems.
  • Must be able to comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations.
  • Must understand and comply with applicable standards (i.e.: ISO 9001, ISO 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, AAR, and CMMI).
