About The Position

RTX’s Collins Aerospace is seeking a Software Project Engineer II to join its Advanced System Tools (AST) organization onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The role combines technical project execution with hands-on engineering. The employee will help lead day-to-day execution of the Database Processing Software (DBPS) Tool, coordinating a small team of software engineers and delivering high-quality avionics databases while maintaining alignment across scope, schedule, cost, technical priorities, and certification needs. Approximately half of the role focuses on project engineering and execution leadership, with the remainder devoted to hands-on technical contributions to DBPS or other AST projects. The position provides experience balancing technical execution and project management in a safety-critical avionics environment. It offers exposure to the engineering lifecycle—including bids, design, development, verification, certification, and release—as well as DO-200B/DO-330 qualified software tools, avionics database production, and processes supporting certified airborne products. The role works closely with engineering leaders, product managers, certification, production, and technical experts, with opportunities to develop technical leadership and project leadership skills. The position is onsite. The salary range is $68,900–$131,100 USD. The role is eligible for relocation. Candidates must meet the stated U.S. Person requirement; security clearance is not required.
