About The Position

Aurora Patents is seeking a Software Patent Agent to manage patent portfolios, draft applications, prosecute patents, and develop patent strategies. Requirements

  • Registered USPTO Patent Agent.
  • Industry or academic background in software.
  • Experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related technical disciplines.
  • 4+ years of experience as a patent agent.
  • Technically skilled in drafting and reviewing utility and design patent applications.
  • Ability to review and analyze technically complex documents (scientific papers, patents, technical specifications).
  • Excellent organizational, verbal communication, and writing skills.
  • Proven ability to work with dynamic and diverse groups of engineers, inventors, and business and strategy teams.
  • Ability to self-direct, manage, and motivate; takes personal ownership and responsibility for driving high-quality results and consistently hitting deadlines.
  • High agency experience with tracking and managing own docket.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be a dedicated, W-2 employee (not for overflow work or contract opportunities).
  • Resume including USPTO agent registration number.
  • Cover letter including references to or attachments of: 1) An office action response that resulted in an issued patent and 2) Any published application or patent numbers for which you drafted.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with medical devices.
  • Experience with emerging companies focused on domains including software employing artificial intelligence, software-enabled medical devices, mechanical medical devices, catheters, consumer devices, fitness equipment, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patent portfolio management, including patent strategy and portfolio development.
  • Identify and capture inventive technologies.
  • Draft patent applications.
  • Guide and execute patent prosecution.
  • Manage dockets and perform IDS management.
  • Participate in elective growth initiatives such as networking, business development, speaking engagements, podcast participation, and content development (compensated time eligible for profit sharing).
