About The Position

SAIC is seeking an experienced Principal Software Integration Engineer to join its Technical Engineering and Design Department in support of a United States Air Force customer. The role monitors systems and remediates issues to meet uptime requirements for critical systems, while providing technical support to improve Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2) capabilities through development and continuous improvement of the JFN and JMIE systems. This position is onsite at Camp Smith in Hawaii. The engineer supports the availability, stability, and health of program resources used for operations, experimentation, development, and testing. Responsibilities include supporting JFN’s MLS operational architecture—including nodes, hub, network, software baseline, and CI/CD apparatus across IL-5 to IL-7 cloud environments—and improving monitoring, reporting, validation, and configuration management. The role applies systems engineering principles and works with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and nine or more years of experience, master’s degree and seven or more years of experience, or PhD/JD and four or more years of experience; experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience with automation tools and techniques, including configuration management and system validation.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Linux KVM.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and continuous integration and development tools such as Jenkins or GitLab Runners.
  • Experience with Kubernetes distributions such as RKE2, EKS, or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
  • Knowledge of application integration testing and automated testing frameworks.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with application providers.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, including experience reporting project status to leadership.
  • Familiarity with modern IT frameworks and methodologies such as Agile and ITIL.
  • Understanding of business and technical alignment to achieve organizational goals.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance.
  • IAT Level II certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the maximum availability, stability, and health of required program resources supporting operations, experimentation, development, and testing.
  • Support the JFN MLS operational architecture, including nodes, hub, network, software baseline, and CI/CD apparatus across IL-5 to IL-7 cloud environments.
  • Develop and maintain automated reporting mechanisms using commercial or customer dashboards to report overall system health and status.
  • Provide software sustainment using software configuration management controls and processes.
  • Establish and improve engineering processes and tools for reporting system status using platform, application, and data monitoring tools.
  • Contribute to designing and developing automation for daily verification and validation of key functional capabilities.
  • Support automation of configuration management and visibility into configuration management status across environments.
  • Implement and promote systems engineering principles to support program success.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability.
