Software Integration Engineer - Customer Onsite

Applied Intuition•Ann Arbor, MI
•$124,000 - $152,000•Onsite

About The Position

Applied Intuition is seeking a Software Integration Engineer to serve as its technical presence at a major automotive customer’s development site. The engineer will work alongside the customer’s engineering teams to integrate and validate Applied Intuition’s E/E platform software on test benches and development vehicles, supporting each delivery through customer acceptance. The role combines hands-on integration and analysis with direct customer engagement, requiring the ability to work independently on site and communicate clearly with customer and distributed internal teams. The position involves bench and vehicle integration, issue triage and defect ownership, milestone delivery support, and technical working sessions with customer engineers. The engineer will document integration procedures and configurations, provide structured updates to internal engineering teams, and develop a strong understanding of system architecture and interactions among software, hardware, and vehicle networks. Full-time employees are expected to work primarily from an Applied Intuition office five days per week, with flexibility for occasional remote work. This role also requires working at a customer site and travel as the engagement requires.

  • Technical knowledge of the body, ADAS, and infotainment domains.
  • Hands-on debugging experience with real hardware and test benches, including log and trace analysis and use of standard lab instrumentation such as multimeters, bus measurement equipment, and JTAG debug interfaces.
  • Familiarity with embedded operating systems such as Linux, QNX, or Android Automotive.
  • Experience with CI/CD and release processes on large software projects.
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to summarize complex technical findings clearly for engineers and program stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently on site and make sound technical judgments.
  • Willingness to be based at a customer site and travel as the engagement requires.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automotive technologies including AUTOSAR, SOME/IP, UDS diagnostics, and LIN.
  • Experience with HIL/VHIL benches and vehicle-level test rigs.
  • Prior experience as a resident or onsite engineer with an OEM or Tier-1 supplier.
  • Exposure to functional safety standards such as ISO 26262.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site bench and vehicle integration, including software flashing, board bring-up, power mode testing, and debugging CAN/CAN-FD, SOME/IP, and Automotive Ethernet communication.
  • Reproduce and isolate issues, then document findings with logs and analysis for engineering teams.
  • Own defects through resolution and keep the customer informed of their status.
  • Support on-site milestone deliveries through smoke testing, release validation, and test execution.
  • Lead technical working sessions with customer domain engineers across software, hardware, and validation.
  • Document bench configurations, flashing procedures, and integration steps to preserve and transfer setup knowledge.
  • Provide structured written updates to distributed engineering teams.
  • Build a deep understanding of system architecture and how software, hardware, and vehicle networks interact.
