About The Position

The Enterprise Development & Integration department supports enterprise technologies, software development, systems integration, and digital solutions that enable operational excellence and advancement of institutional goals. The Software Integration Architect for ServiceNow plays a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise platform solutions that support these objectives. At UT MD Anderson, the Software Integration Architect for ServiceNow provides senior-level architectural leadership across ServiceNow modules, drives enterprise technology initiatives, and ensures scalable platform solutions align with organizational goals and industry best practices. The Software Integration Architect for ServiceNow collaborates with technical teams, business stakeholders, and platform partners to support governance, innovation, and long-term platform success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Seven years of experience in software development and design, to include two years of supervisory/management or project management experience.
  • May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
  • Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
  • Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years as a ServiceNow developer
  • Experience with ServiceNow's release cadence and upgrade planning (family releases, deprecated features)
  • At least 2 years in an architect capacity
  • Has led at least one full platform implementation or major module rollout end-to-end
  • Comfortable in both hands-on configuration and executive-facing conversations
  • Strong integration background (APIs, ETL, third-party tool connections like Jira, Azure DevOps, monitoring tools)
  • ServiceNow platform architecture depth — proven experience designing solutions across multiple modules (ITSM, ITOM, ITBM, CSM, or HRSD depending on your stack), including CMDB/Discovery design, integration architecture (REST/SOAP, MID Server, IntegrationHub), and scalability/performance planning across instances.
  • Governance and best-practice enforcement — experience owning platform standards: upgrade strategy, technical debt management, coding/scripting standards (Glide API, Flow Designer vs. scripted workflows), and instance health.
  • Stakeholder and technical leadership — ability to translate business requirements into platform design, lead solution reviews, mentor developers/admins, and work directly with ServiceNow (the vendor) on roadmap and licensing decisions.
  • CSA (Certified System Administrator) and CAD (Certified Application Developer)
  • CIS certifications (CIS-ITSM, CIS-Discovery, CIS-CSM, CIS-HRSD)
  • Certified Technical Architect (CTA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide and articulate resource requirements for information system projects.
  • Analyze project risks and potential institutional impacts.
  • Present project information to the appropriate IS Steering Team and related Work Groups.
  • Support informed decision-making regarding enterprise technology investments and priorities.
  • Manage staff to ensure appropriate human resources are available to meet established priorities.
  • Schedule and allocate personnel resources effectively.
  • Communicate frequently with management to maintain consistent service levels.
  • Support team performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Participate in fiscal responsibility activities related to assigned projects and systems.
  • Support budget performance for acquisition, development, installation, implementation, and maintenance efforts.
  • Contribute to financial planning and resource utilization decisions.
  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable ServiceNow solutions across multiple modules.
  • Evaluate new technologies, software, vendors, architecture patterns, and services.
  • Identify opportunities for new solutions and applications supporting institutional goals and strategies.
  • Lead ServiceNow platform architecture, integration strategy, scalability planning, and governance initiatives.
  • Support enterprise development and technologies utilized across UT MD Anderson.
  • Meet with users to assess service quality and identify business needs.
  • Resolve customer issues related to products and services.
  • Translate business requirements into technical platform designs.
  • Lead solution reviews and mentor developers and administrators.
  • Collaborate with ServiceNow on roadmap, licensing, upgrade planning, platform standards, technical debt management, and instance health.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Enterprise Development and Integration.
