About The Position

The Creativity Apps team at Apple is seeking a Software Image Quality Manager to lead, mentor, and grow a team of Image Quality Engineers focused on photo and video editing features. This role requires a highly proactive individual with strong creative, technical, and analytical skills, and a passion for image/color science, computer vision, and on-device machine learning. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in imaging, video processing, or computational photography quality, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership capacity managing a team
  • Proven experience in image quality evaluation and testing for photo and video applications
  • Strong understanding of digital image processing, color/image science, compression algorithms, and video codecs
  • Experience with AI/ML model evaluation and validation, particularly in computer vision or image manipulation contexts
  • Knowledge of HDR workflows and advanced color grading techniques
  • Experience with objective and subjective image quality assessment techniques
  • Experience in testing with GenAI Repair tools.
  • Experience using AI/LLMs for Image/Video Quality Evaluations
  • Proficiency with relevant QA tools and software testing methodologies
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Image Processing, or a related technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their application in image processing
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for test automation and data analysis
  • iOS and macOS familiarity

Responsibilities

  • Planning, designing, maintaining, and overseeing the Image/Video quality, evaluation and validation of AI and ML models used in photo and video editing features, ensuring their accuracy, performance, and impact on image/video quality.
  • Collaborating closely with engineering, product, and design teams to understand feature requirements, identify potential quality risks, and help mitigate them throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Establishing and maintaining objective and subjective image quality metrics and benchmarks.
  • Championing a quality-first culture across the organization.
  • Presenting quality findings to product and leadership teams.
  • Mitigating quality risks throughout the development lifecycle.
