About The Position

Zoox is seeking a Senior/Staff Software-Hardware Integration Technical Program Manager to translate corporate strategy into detailed roadmaps and execution plans for its autonomous mobility solution. The role works cross-functionally with engineering leaders in software, hardware, vehicle engineering, and product to develop schedules, establish milestones, identify risks, estimate budgets, and communicate progress. The position owns end-to-end hardware-software integration programs, aligning autonomy software releases with vehicle integration milestones and coordinating dependencies across engineering teams. It also drives programs involving sensor bring-up and compute platform transitions, considering their effects on autonomy software performance, latency, and resource budgets. The TPM helps teams deliver improvements to driving behavior and provides executive updates on program status, risks, issues, and accomplishments.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of engineering program management experience.
  • Track record of driving hardware-software integration programs, ideally in autonomous vehicles, automotive, robotics, aerospace, or consumer electronics.
  • Working knowledge of autonomous vehicle sensors, including cameras, lidars, and radars, and compute systems, including GPUs, memory, embedded platforms, and accelerated platforms.
  • Experience with one or more of AI/ML, autonomous vehicles, computer vision, large language models, reinforcement learning, simulation, or automotive/aerospace processes.
  • Deep familiarity with software development processes and understanding of hardware development cycles and build phases.
  • Skill with program tools and methods such as Gantt charts, risk matrices, Smartsheet, and JIRA.
  • Strong track record of managing complex cross-functional projects and solving problems.
  • Ability to maintain a big-picture perspective and communicate clearly and concisely for different audiences.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to visualize KPIs and program risks.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with sensor and compute systems and how they integrate with autonomy software.
  • Experience developing and scaling strategy, processes, plans, procedures, and reporting, and handling escalations.
  • Strong references demonstrating the ability to build good working relationships with senior leaders, program managers, and engineers across functions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with software and hardware engineering leaders and their TPMs across autonomy disciplines to create an integrated hardware-software roadmap, timeline, and deliverables.
  • Drive hardware-software integration programs end to end, including sensor bring-up and compute platform transitions and their effects on autonomy software performance, latency, and resource budgets.
  • Align software release trains with vehicle integration milestones and manage dependencies and handoffs between teams.
  • Drive cross-functional autonomy teams to build and ship solutions that improve driving behavior.
  • Identify hardware-software integration and program risks early and develop risk-reduction plans.
  • Build and deliver executive presentations covering program status, issues, risks, and accomplishments.
  • Develop project schedules, identify milestones, estimate budgets, and communicate ongoing progress.
