Sr. Specialist - Software Engineering
About The Position
We are seeking a Software Developer Senior Specialist to join our team. This role involves being a key technical contributor in designing, building, and scaling platforms that provide Clearing Services for major clearing houses globally. The ideal candidate enjoys tackling complex technical challenges, collaborating across teams, and delivering scalable and impactful solutions. This position combines hands-on development with technical leadership, offering the chance to influence architecture, establish best practices, and promote engineering excellence. The role requires quickly becoming proficient in large, existing codebases, and the successful candidate will join a team working on a client system nearing production, playing a crucial part in its stabilization, refinement, and preparation for a successful launch.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
- 5 to 10 years of software development experience with strong backend expertise in Java
- Experience with modern frontend technologies such as JavaScript and React
- Experience building and deploying applications in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Familiarity with building distributed systems and working with APIs or microservices
- Strong communication skills and experience working in cross-functional, globally distributed teams
Nice To Haves
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes (K8s)
- Exposure to or experience building AI-powered features or data-driven applications
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures or streaming technologies
- Experience in fintech, capital markets, or other regulated industries
Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert in software development, helping guide technical decisions and establish best practices
- Design, build, and deliver scalable, resilient applications using modern backend and frontend technologies
- Contribute to architecture discussions and help shape systems that are secure, performant, and future-ready
- Champion quality through clean code, testing, and continuous integration and delivery practices
- Support and mentor teammates, contributing to a strong and collaborative engineering culture
