About The Position

Apple’s Imaging and Computer Vision team develops algorithms and foundation models for visual, spatial, and multimodal user experiences. The Software Engineering Program Manager partners with research scientists, software engineers, and senior EPMs to support the development and delivery of next-generation visual technologies, bridging algorithmic research and production software delivery. The role supports the algorithm lifecycle, from coordinating exploratory research milestones and tracking data collection and curation pipelines to organizing model evaluation results and assisting with integration on Apple silicon. It involves managing project cadence and cross-functional dependencies, monitoring empirical evaluation and benchmarks, identifying and escalating risks, preparing project communications and documentation, and exploring AI-assisted tools and automations to improve program tracking and team efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on coding experience in Python, C++, or a similar language through internships, open-source projects, or university research labs.
  • Prior experience working directly with computer vision, deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, or data annotation pipelines.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in technical program management, software project coordination, or hands-on software or algorithm engineering, including internships or academic lab leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Track project schedules, sprint milestones, and deliverables across computer vision and machine learning algorithm workstreams, from early concept through platform integration.
  • Partner with senior EPMs to track dependencies among research teams, system software, platform teams, and quality assurance, helping keep critical paths unblocked.
  • Assist scientists and engineers in tracking offline and online evaluation results, regression test suites, and data collection initiatives to monitor model performance over time.
  • Monitor timelines and open technical issues, and proactively flag data or timeline bottlenecks before they affect delivery.
  • Prepare meeting summaries, status dashboards, and project tracking documentation for engineering syncs and team reviews.
  • Explore and implement AI-assisted tools, scripts, and programmatic automations to improve program tracking and team efficiency.
  • Coordinate exploratory research milestones, track data collection and curation pipelines, organize model evaluation results, and assist with integration on Apple silicon.
