Software Engineering Manager

Microsoft•Redmond, WA

About The Position

The Software Engineering Manager will lead the Purview Integration platform team, which aims to make Purview protections native across Microsoft apps and AI surfaces. The team is building shared infrastructure to replace fragmented integrations and inconsistent enforcement. Its planned platform includes a common SDK and integration contract for data loss prevention enforcement, classification signals, RMS encryption and usage rights, telemetry, and onboarding tools. Planned surfaces include Office apps, Outlook, Copilot surfaces, Autopilot, and future agent harnesses. Initial milestones include an SDK in Q1 and adoption by two surfaces in Q2, followed by work on policy parity, protected AI output, self-service onboarding, coverage telemetry, and performance; numeric targets are placeholders. The manager will guide a team of specialists working on the SDK, AI harnesses, Office and Outlook integrations, telemetry and reliability, and onboarding. The team will embed during a surface’s first integration and own the integration contract, SDK, and conformance bar. Purview core teams retain ownership of policy semantics, while surface teams own user experience and rollout after conformance. The manager will set platform strategy and roadmap, partner across surface and Purview teams, promote disciplined use of AI across the software development lifecycle, guide architecture and coding practices, and use telemetry to track and report coverage, reliability, and performance. They will also establish clear ownership and priorities, coach team members, support wellbeing, and help grow each person’s skills and career.
