About The Position

Cricut is looking for a talented Engineer Manager to help us take our apps to the next level. The position demands a candidate capable of doing high-quality work against technical and schedule challenges, while following strong software design and process principles. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in a dynamic team, working on cutting edge mobile technology. You are a driver of change and you have yet to meet a technological challenge you cannot resolve. You are dedicated to developing clean code that will help shape software which thrills our users.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a lead or management role
  • Background as a hands-on engineer with experience on at least one client platform (iOS, Android, or Desktop)
  • 2+ years of experience directly managing software engineers — including performance management, hiring, and career development (not just technical leadership)
  • Track record of building and retaining high-performing engineering teams
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies at the team and program level
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills — comfortable partnering with product, design, and executive stakeholders
  • Experience managing remote or offshore contractor teams
  • Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and make sound decisions without needing to be the deepest expert in the room

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing cross-platform teams (iOS + Android + Desktop)
  • Background in consumer hardware/software product companies
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and how they affect team productivity and resourcing

Responsibilities

  • Lead with ownership: thrive in ambiguity, proactively clarify requirements, and drive work forward without waiting for direction
  • Lead and support 1–2 product pods, each consisting of a Tech Lead, Senior Engineers, and contractors across iOS, Android, and Desktop
  • Spend ~30% of time in the code (reviewing code, PRs, etc.).
  • Set goals, give feedback, conduct performance reviews, and actively manage career development for direct reports
  • Partner with Product Management and UX at the roadmap level to align pod priorities with business goals
  • Own hiring for your pods — drive job descriptions, run interview loops, make hiring decisions, and onboard new team members
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture; address dynamics and morale proactively
  • Support architectural planning and technical direction without owning it — your Tech Leads drive technical decisions; you ensure they have the clarity, resources, and space to do so
  • Break down quarterly plans into pod-level commitments and manage delivery timelines across your teams
  • Act as a bridge between engineering and other departments (product, design, QA, marketing)
  • Guide Agile/Scrum practices across your pods; ensure ceremonies are effective, not performative
  • Manage contractor relationships and coordinate with offshore teams

Benefits

  • Competitive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • 401(k) match
  • Generous PTO
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Yearly lifestyle stipend
  • Exclusive employee discounts
  • Relocation assistance
