DebtBook is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join their team. In this role, you will initially ramp up as an Individual Contributor (IC) for your first 90 days, shipping code and acting as a technical lead on projects before transitioning to managing a team. This intensive onboarding period is designed to build the context necessary for effective management within the company. You will remain hands-on to model best practices, identify challenges, and contribute code when needed. Your responsibilities will include identifying and removing blockers, improving processes to enhance team effectiveness, and driving faster, better outcomes. You will be responsible for aligning the team and gaining commitment around project goals, and fostering direct collaboration between your team and other departments. Additionally, you will recruit engineers to improve the team's capabilities and own the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring experienced engineers become productive and lead work within 90 days. A key aspect of this role is leading the adoption of AI-assisted development, using these tools throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and coaching engineers to avoid unnecessary complexity. You will need to be sufficiently involved to understand project progress and challenges, maintain high standards, and provide timely and direct feedback.
