Manager, Software Engineering
About The Position
Brady Corporation is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead its Applications Engineering software team. The team is responsible for customer-facing software customizations and applications, as well as internal manufacturing and developer support software. The manager applies expertise in software design, project management, and mentorship to guide the team through the development process. The role develops project requirements and resource plans to meet market requirements for custom software solutions, supports existing customers and installations by addressing defects and adding customer-identified features, and provides technical expertise in designing and developing custom and manufacturing support software. The manager also coaches and mentors software engineers, contributes to code reviews and pull requests, collaborates with desktop, mobile software, and firmware teams, and works with manufacturing and test teams to define requirements for production support software.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Applications Engineering team responsible for customer-facing software customizations and applications, as well as internal manufacturing and developer support software.
- Develop project requirements and resource plans to achieve market requirements for custom software solutions.
- Support existing customers and installations for custom software solutions by addressing defects and adding features identified by customers.
- Coach and mentor software engineers, including providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Provide technical expertise and contribute to the design and development of custom software solutions and manufacturing support software.
- Participate in pull requests and code reviews to ensure architectural integrity and sound design principles throughout the codebase.
- Collaborate with desktop, mobile software, and firmware teams to ensure seamless integration and manage interdependencies.
- Work with manufacturing and test teams to define requirements for manufacturing and production support software.
