As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. The Advertiser Platform (AP) is the bedrock of Google Ads, providing programmatic interfaces and data to power advertiser experiences. The AP Infra team is responsible for the infrastructure components that support all advertisers, from small and local businesses to large Fortune 500 companies, in realizing their business goals. Google Ads is at the forefront of AI innovation, applying cutting-edge machine learning and Generative AI models like Gemini to power a multi-billion dollar global business. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development.
3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
2 years of Generative AI or Agentic AI experience.
Experience with Ads technologies, Storage latency and optimization.

Responsibilities

Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals, aligning strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.
Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, providing feedback and coaching.
Develop the mid-term technical goal and roadmap within the scope of your (often multiple) team(s), evolving the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
Design, guide, and vet system designs within the scope of the broader area, writing product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
